The workshop will be hosted by the Mbeya Medical Research Center, MMRC, in Mbeya, Tanzania and will be organized jointly by MMRC and the CIHLMU Center for International Health of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich, Germany.
Objectives:
The workshop will provide an in depth look into the organization of human cohort studies in the field of infectious diseases and clinical immunology and will provide an opportunity to learn from the closely integrated approach for medical field work and subsequent immunology studies.
During the workshop, visits to different study sites and to the MMRC-Laboratory will allow an insight into practical field work, specimen flow and subsequent laboratory assays. Field and laboratory practicals will be supplemented by expert seminars in cellular and humoral immunology, study planning and implementation. In addition, the workshop will provide a platform for participants to exchange current findings and trends with experienced experts in field work, laboratory & data management.
